Tucked into a strip mall on East Broadway, The Horseshoe Grill appears somewhat ordinary and almost like a restaurant that I would normally overlook. I’m sure glad I didn’t make that mistake! My first contact with the manager was through Facebook where I asked my typical jumping in question: Do you use any artificial ingredients in your food? This question is often met with one of a few different responses and is usually followed by a lot of other, more specific questions and then a lot of label reading (because most restaurant managers don’t actually know what is in their food) and then bad news.
With The Horseshoe Grill, there was one answer. The best answer. “We use absolutely no artificial ingredients in any of our products.” Woot! Woot! My heart soars.
The service was amazing but the food was even better. Our server was so helpful in running back and forth checking ingredients for me (just to be on the safe side) and discussing them with us. They have a truly made-from-scratch kitchen. Every single menu item is made fresh daily and with real-food, wholesome ingredients.
Being meat lovers, everyone ordered either a steak or ribs and were not disappointed. It’s hard to eat out when you are a good cook and usually prefer your own food to restaurant food, so I was especially tickled to be able to relax with my family AND enjoy my perfectly medium, juicy, mesquite grilled sirloin goodness. Better than I make them at home!
We finished off our meal by sharing a mason jar cheesecake which was insanely good and then spent the rest of the evening moaning contentedly.
The Horseshoe Grill also offers a number of your usual football Sunday style appetizers like wings and potato skins, as well as burgers, sandwiches, salads, local beers and a full bar. We are all excited to go back again and again.
I did see online that their reviews are very mixed and it seems that the more negative reviews were from people who went during super-busy times. We actually went in the late afternoon on a weekday and had a perfect experience so I’m wondering if it’s a good idea to avoid weekends and dinner rush but this is just my guess. Just keep that in mind if you decide to head in.
If you’d like to see what they are all about, The Horseshoe Grill offers a wine/beer tasting monthly and their next event is tomorrow evening, Tuesday, January 10th. Located at 7713 E Broadway, this locally owned steakhouse is a gem. Order anything you’d like from their main menu because everything is safe, natural, real food.
* I’m thrilled to be able to give The Horseshoe Grill the Real Food in Tucson Seal of Approval because they so deserve it. In our searching, our server did discover that the marshmallows in the S’mores Skillet are not natural and they also serve Heinz ketchup which contains HFCS. The RFiT Seal only covers main menu items in restaurants (not drinks, condiments or desserts) however we found that all their other condiments, sauces, dressings and desserts are safe and natural.
