I’m not a huge coffee drinker, nor do I often buy prepared coffee outside of the house, which is probably why I hadn’t made it in to Exo Roast until today. When I heard the news that they added a breakfast menu oozing with social consciousness and community-love and loyalty as well as wholesome, locally sourced, real food … I had to check it out.
Exo Roast seems to encompass a little of everything I adore. Integrity. Gorgeous old building. Minimal disposables. Beauty. Delicious coffee. Lovely, helpful staff. Creative menu. Local suppliers. Yummy food.
Great Food, Great Coffee
I was kind of in heaven throughout my breakfast experience. Though I don’t drink coffee all the time, when I do, I want it to be amazing. And it was! The barista took time to go over their different coffees with me and was patient with my lack of knowledge. We went for the Tier A Pour-over; I always prefer the pour-over method for the richest flavor. Pricey but worth it, especially if you consider coffee a treat as I do. All that and it’s conscientiously sourced.
For breakfast, they offer a simple, six item menu featuring sandwiches made with gourmet cheeses, homemade sourdough English muffins, local farm eggs and local greens as well as breakfast tacos, homemade granola and roasted, local root vegetables. Simple yet inventive. Small yet sufficient portions. The kind of flavor you can only get from locally sourced foods. Bright, intensely orange egg yolks; orange like oranges; a sure sign of a happy hen.
Exo Roast is right in our neighborhood, at 403 N. 6th Ave. We will definitely go back for more. And the best part? It’s all 100% Real Food so order away knowing that your mind, body and spirit will feel great when you do.
